Two reports of attempted home burglary happened in the same area of Glenview in early April, according a recent police report. On April 3, a resident of the 1800 block of Westleigh Drive reported observing pry marks on the front door. No time of the attempted break-in was reported and the homeowner stated that the marks looked like they might be two to three weeks old.
On April 6, another resident of the 1800 block of Camden Drive also reported ½-inch pry marks on two doors between noon and 3 p.m. which resulted in $175 worth of damage. Both of the homes are located in an area of Glenview just southwest of the intersection of Waukegan and Willow roads behind two popular shopping areas.
In both cases, the perpetrator used either a pry bar or screwdriver, but they were not able to gain entry and no actual theft occurred. No one has been arrested in connection with these incidences.
“The investigation is still active,” said Glenview Police Sergeant Patrick Schuster. He was unable to see when the last attempted robbery happened in this neighborhood due to program updates at the department but did admit that incidents have happened in this same area before “as any other part of town.”
Though the similarities of the April crimes are evident, Schuster said police are not sure if they are in fact related and also noted that there are no community alerts at this time.
