Last week seven modular classroom buildings were delivered to the Winnetka campus of New Trier High School and seven more are scheduled for delivery this week, as the school begins it massive $100 million dollar renovation project approved by voters last fall.
Preparing for the heavy demolition and construction that will begin this summer, the school is creating a “North Annex” located near the North Entrance of the school. The North Annex will consist of a cluster of modular buildings and will be the temporary home of six Art and Applied Arts classrooms. Crews are currently busy customizing the units that were already delivered to meet curriculum needs. They are also installing electricals.
The buildings will be connected by a series of decks and ramps and the classrooms should be equal to or larger than the existing classrooms. They will also have heat, air conditioning, fire rated sprinkler systems and access to technology like the rest of the school.
The North Annex is scheduled to open after Spring Break. To learn more about the New Trier construction project go to http://www.newtrier.k12.il.us/facilitiesproject/.
