Planning a walk down the aisle soon? You might want to take your first steps at the Glenview Wedding Walk on February 8. This inaugural event (from 12 to 4 p.m.) aims to show brides-to-be and their families all that the town has to offer in regards to venues, catering, dresses, flowers, invitations, photography studios and other wedding vendors. The event was organized by Megan Van Treeck, owner of the specialty gift shop Irish Connoisseur and Danielle Keenan, co-owner of bridalwear shop Gigi’s Closette.
Some of the other partners in this self-guided tour include Arthur Murray Dance Studio, Card & Party Giant, Catered by Design, Chykalophia Design, Daniel’s Jewelry, Foodstuffs, Furla Photography & Video, The Glen Club, Gusto Ristorante, Hackney’s on Lake, Hlavacek Florist of Glenview, Kitchen & Bath Unlimited, Morning Glory Flower Shop, Scruples Hair Salon & Spa and The Wyndham Hotel.
The Wedding Walk comes at a good time as the Schram Memorial Chapel on The Glen just received a 2015 WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Award for being a top venue in the Chicagoland area. It’s one of the only Naval Air Station chapels still operating, having undergone a careful restoration after it was assumed by the Glenview Park District several years ago.
Schram Memorial Chapel is just one of the unique spots to host a wedding in Glenview. Here are two more to consider:
The Grove’s Redfield Estate – Weddings are a mix of “Downtown Abbey” meets “Secret Garden” at the beautiful estate on the grounds of the national historic landmark The Grove. Renters have private use of the entire historic home—and new heated outdoor pavilion—which features a Great Room with fireplace, cathedral ceilings, chandeliers and a two-story leaded glass window. There is also a loft area overlooking the room ideal for musicians to perform.
Wagner Farm Heritage Center – Rustic weddings have been trending recently, and there’s no better local spot than the rural grounds of Wagner Farm. Here, amongst the barn, fields with grazing cows and an award-winning museum is space for up to 200 guests.
