Natalie Austin Ashmore, age 83, longtime resident of Winnetka, IL, known affectionately to her family as Muzzy, died January 5, 2015.
She was born April 26, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA to James S. and Natalie (Stone) Austin. A graduate of Miss Porter’s School and Smith College, she worked for CBS in New York City prior to becoming a homemaker. On November 10, 1956, she married Sidney B. Ashmore Jr. and the couple relocated to the Chicago area where they raised their 3 sons.
Mrs. Ashmore was a talented pianist, active volunteer and enjoyed golfing, gardening and traveling the world with her husband. She especially loved spending time with her family and many friends.
She will be remembered for her warm, magnetic personality, abundant enthusiasm and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Natalie was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney, and her brother James S. Austin, Jr.
Survivors include children Skip (Jenny), Scott (Christine) and Steve (Jeannie); and 12 grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held Thursday, January 22 at 3pm at Kenilworth Union Church, 211 Kenilworth Avenue, Kenilworth, IL 60043.
