AT LAKE ZURICH: Katie Hanson is stepping up.
The Lake Forest High School senior knocked down 6 of 10 shots from beyond the three-point arc in her team’s 46-40 victory over host Lake Zurich on Jan. 15. She finished the game with a team-high 18 points.
Five days earlier, Hanson went 5-for-10 from three-point distance in a loss to Stevenson.
In the win over LZ, the Scouts (10-8, 2-3) also received solid play from sophomore point guard Delaney Williams (9 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists).
LF is hosting its inaugural Lake Forest MLK Tournament on Jan. 17 and Jan. 19. The field includes Antioch, Buffalo Grove, Deerfield and Lakes.
AT LOYOLA: The host Ramblers improved to 11-7 overall with a 67-19 victory over Queen of Peace on Jan. 15.
Alexa DeLeo (10 points), Liz Satter (10 points, 6 steals) and Maeve Stanton (8 points, 5 assists) led the way.
On Jan. 13, Loyola took care of visiting Carmel 42-25. Stanton had 10 points, while DeLeo had nine points and six rebounds.
AT WAUKEGAN: The 1-2 punch of Theresa Onwuka and Jasmine Sawyer carried Lake Forest Academy to a 64-45 victory over Waukegan on Jan. 13.
Onwuka scored 21 points, while Sawyer tallied 20.
With that win, the Caxys improved to 10-1 overall.
AT MOTHER MCAULEY: Oh so close.
Regina Dominican dropped a 38-36 decision to host Mother McCauley on Jan. 14. Maeve Degnan finished the game with 24 points, seven rebounds and five steals.
