The Founders’ Board of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago kicked off the holiday season with the fourth annual Winter Wishes: Holiday Cocktail Celebration on November 20, held at The Casino for the first time. More than 550 guests enjoyed an elegant evening of cocktails and holiday cheer, raising more than $540,000 in support of the board’s three-year, $5.5 million fundraising campaign. This year’s event specifically benefited the Division of Neonatology and the vision of new Division Head Aaron Hamvas, MD. Founders’ Board members Susan Chandler of Lake Forest, Katie Donovan of Lake Forest and Briana Fosnaugh of Chicago were co-chairs of the event.
The holiday festivities continued with the Founders’ Board’s annual community outreach event, Winter Wishes: Holiday Outreach Event, held December 10 at Navy Pier’s Winter WonderFest. More than 1,100 Chicago Public School students will create handmade ornaments which they will use to decorate holiday trees while enjoying the sights and sounds of the holidays as well as attractions such as a children’s train, an Arctic ice rink and an enormous gingerbread house for Santa. The decorated trees later adorned the halls of Lurie Children’s and O’Hare International Airport during the holiday season. Beth Diefenbach of Lake Forest and Vicki Ginn of Chicago were co-chairs of the Holiday Outreach Event.
The Founders’ Board is committed to supporting Lurie Children’s through active participation in hospital governance, volunteerism and advocacy. luriechildrens.org.
