Robert J. “Bob” Foley, 89, died in his Wilmette home on December 17, 2014. Born May 5, 1925 in Chicago, he lived in Wilmette for 17 years and prior to that in Winnetka for 33 years.
He was Staff Sergeant and Waist Gunner on B-17 Heavy Bombers in the 234th Squadron of the U.S. 8th Army Air Force in the World War II European theatre. He also was a lifelong creative restaurateur; member of the Faith Hope & Charity Parish Council for several decades; FHC Sacristan; active volunteer on many FHC Parish initiatives and projects; volunteer and board member of A Just Harvest – Community Kitchen and Economic Development Sponsor in Chicago for 20 years; member of Loyola Academy Ramble Fund-raising Dinner Committee for 30 consecutive years; Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House board member; Regina Dominican High School board chair for 2 years; coordinated the re-design, construction and refurbishment of the kitchen and dining facilities of 6 Jesuit kitchens and dining rooms; co-founder of Vision 2000, Inc. (Prison Ministries) Prayer Program.
Beloved husband of the late Dolores Ann “Lori” Foley.
