HIGHLAND PARK–Officers responded to a burglar alarm from Jimmy Johns on Skokie Valley near Clavey Rd. early Friday morning to find that a north side window had been broken, and that the business had been entered.
Police secured the area and determined that the offenders were not inside. They found both registers smashed near the rear door of the business, and a K9 search of the area ending in an adjacent parking lot indicates that the suspect(s) most likely left the area in a vehicle that had been parked during the burglary.
Evidence technicians processed the scene and collected items of evidentiary value. Investigators then interviewed 24-hour business employees in the vicinity, and are currently collecting overnight surveillance video from local businesses.
