Ragdale’s “A Novel Affair” entertained guests from the North Shore and Chicago with a stellar line-up of best-selling authors and acclaimed artists and architects at the two-evening benefit on September 26 and 27, 2014.
More than 200 people attended the cocktail reception at McGinley Pavilion in the Chicago Botanic Gardens in Glencoe on Friday, and the vast majority also enjoyed an intimate dinner with a guest artist in a distinctive venue on Saturday.
This year’s featured guests included celebrated authors Sherman Alexie, Jean Kwok, Anthony Marra, B.A.Shapiro, Scott Turow, Luis Alberto Urrea, architects Stanley Tigerman and Margaret McCurry, visual artists Judy Ledgerwood and Tony Tasset, and performer/comedienne Julia Sweeney.
The Eighth Annual event was co-chaired by Sandra Deromedi and Marci Holzer, with the support of a capable committee of Ragdale Trustees and Curatorial Board members. More than $90,000 was raised to support The Ragdale Foundation, a non-profit artists’ residency in Lake Forest that provides over 150 artists and writers the time and space to pursue their work in an uninterrupted environment each year.
