On Saturday, November 2, starting at 9 am, LEAD (Linking Efforts Against Drugs) is holding its annual Red Ribbon Race which consists of a 5K race and a 2 mile family walk, followed by a “Taste of Wellness Fair.” It all takes place at Elawa Farms in Lake Forest.
For runners, this is a fun race with prizes at every level.
Equally important is for non-runners, this is a family-event that is easy, fun and a great reason to start a conversation with your kids about making healthy choices. If you have middle-school or high-school aged kids, that conversation might be about alcohol, drugs and depression. If you have younger kids, that conversation might be about cheating, bullying, and other behaviors. Or if you want to save those conversations for another time – or if you don’t have kids – just come out and have a fun time walking in a beautiful setting with a few hundred of your friends and neighbors!
More details and registration info can be found at: http://www.leadingefforts.org/redribbonrace/
If you are walking with a group of friends or as part of an organization (your school, your church, your team, etc) feel free to register via the “group link” at http://www.leadingefforts.org/rrr_group/ Not only do you save a few dollars, but you also will receive a special name tag identifying you as part of your group.
If you have any questions, just let me know or email Joy Markee at [email protected]
I hope you can join us at this great event!
