The following is an email sent to parents of Lake Forest High School students by Principal Jay Hoffman on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 1:15 p.m. regarding the death on Tuesday of an LFHS freshman who was struck and killed by an inbound Metra train.
It is with great sorrow that I share the news that one of our students, William Laskero-Teskoski (Class of 2015), was hit by a Metra Train early this morning and has died.
Social workers and counselors met with students in some of William’s classes today to provide support. We will be sharing the sad news with our student body this afternoon and our counselors, social workers and staff will be available for support. Additionally, throughout the week we will have social workers and counselors on call if your child needs to talk to someone. Please inform your child that he or she is welcome anytime in the social workers’ conference room (160J) on the first floor.
In addition to our school interventions and programs, we will continue to reach out for partnership and support from community (CROYA, LEAD, etc.) and mental health organizations to support families in distress.
Thank you for your continued support of all our students and each other. This is especially important during times of need. We send our deepest sympathies to the family as the LFHS school community mourns this loss.
