As has been communicated by both the District 67 & District 115 Boards of Education, a group of community members (comprised of parents, teachers, staff and tax payers) participated in the interview and selection process for the new District 67/115 Superintendent. As members of the two “Community Interview Teams,” we would like to sincerely thank the Boards for allowing us to actively participate in the interview process. We would also like to congratulate them on their outstanding selection of Michael Simeck as our new Superintendent.
District 115 Board of Education President Sharon Golan has stated that “the collaborative process works” and, in this instance, we could not agree more! Not only do we feel that our input was valued and heard throughout this final selection process, but we are thrilled that the candidate that BOTH “Community Interview Committees” recommended is the one that has been hired. We believe this clearly validates that the Board listened to the community representatives and worked diligently to ensure that our feedback was incorporated during the final selection decision.
We would also like to congratulate Mr. Simeck on his new post and welcome him to the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff communities. Throughout our interviews with him, we were extremely impressed with his eagerness to engage the community in the District decision-making processes, his commitment to “steward leadership,” his thoughtful answers to our many questions, his dedication to transparency, his “student-centered” approach to education, and his enthusiastic and positive personality. In fact, we weren’t ready for the interviews to end when they did! We genuinely enjoyed the opportunity to get to know Mr. Simeck and we look forward to working with him as our new Superintendent.
So thank you again to the District 67 & 115 Boards of Education for including and valuing community input into the final Superintendent selection process…we appreciate your trust and faith in our opinions and feedback.
Sincerely,
Liz Abel
