Sheridan Road Neighbors Say No More To No Mow!
This news flash comes from the Lake Bluff Park District
For 2011, the Lake Bluff Park District has decided to mow the Sheridan Road Greenway; it will seek public input for a Master Plan of the site. A Master Plan can take years to develop but is the most effective way to plan for the future. The Park District adopted a Strategic Plan in January and is committed to the plan through specific objectives and initiatives such as communicating effectively to the public, developing a Comprehensive Master Plan and design standards and improving financial performance. A Sheridan Road Greenway plan is a project that fits within the Strategic Plan.
With this is mind, the Park District will meet with Sheridan Road Greenway neighborhood residents, public, Village, Lake Bluff Garden Club and Lake Bluff Open Lands in the future to determine the best possible uses of this open space and how to provide a more aesthetically pleasing entry way to the Lake Bluff community while finding opportunities to be fiscally stable and responsible to all residents. For 2011, the Park District is able to mow the Greenway due to hiring Parks staff later than anticipated, scheduling golf staff to assist operationally and mowing one day per week instead of twice per week in the past.
In the near future, the Park District will be prioritizing allocation of all resources for programs, facilities and services and determining what to maintain, improve, eliminate, must have, or not have in the community. The decision process will include Community Wide Survey results, Community feedback, twenty-year Capital Plan, forecasted budgets, five year financial plan and debt. These meetings will be communicated through our website, e-blasts, and media and residents will be encouraged to attend.
The Lake Bluff Park District appreciates all the feedback and support and looks forward to including the neighbors and public in a Master Plan process for the Sheridan Road Greenway, Sunrise Park and Beach and other parks.
