The Lake Forest documentary "Discovering Deerpath" opened Saturday with all the glamour of a red-carpet premiere, including a standing ovation from the sold-out audience.
So what's next for the documentary and its executive producer, Richard Marra? "Next film? None," he told GazeboNews. "My only goal was to do this for Lake Forest." Reviews from audience members at the Gorton Center premiere included such adjectives as "magical,"
"phenomenal" and "fabulous." And many said they learned things about Lake Forest, such as the importance of Irish Catholics to the region's development. Mr. Marra has had several requests for DVDs and additional shows. "We are going to sit back and enjoy what we have done; inhale and exhale a few times and perhaps figure out a way to have a few shows at Christmastime," said the Lake Forest resident, who financed the film himself with help from private donations. When he's not coming up with ways to document local history, Mr. Marra works as managing director of Healthplace America.
