The sunny, dry days have now turned cool and wet in Bududa, Uganda. It feels like the rainy season, as the sun emerges for just a few hours each day.
After two days of travel, Allison Neumeister arrived safely in Bududa, Uganda, with seven large duffel bags in tow, each bag filled to capacity with medical supplies, vitamins, blankets, computers, digital cameras, fabric, soccer balls and children’s clothes — all thanks to Lake Forest and Lake Bluff residents and businesses.

I aged 10 years today. On Monday at 2:00 p.m., Bududa experienced a mudslide. Usually mudslides occur after weeks of continual rainfall, but this one resulted from only a few days of heavy rain. As of this evening, according to the Red Cross personnel on site, there are 18 dead and 170 missing. The number of people who lost their homes is 138. They were still collecting names of the missing when I left.
