The Women’s Board of Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital knows how to raise the bar on fundraising. In 2013, they pledged to raise $2 million for the bricks and mortar of the new hospital facility. And when they raised reached their goal in record time, they decided to raise $2 million more.
“This is a really exciting time to be aligned with the hospital,” says Amy Wells, co-chair of the Women’s Board “Lakeside Soirée” on May 20 at Shoreacres. “People who support our event will see their money go straight to the commitment we’ve made to the hospital, as well as our scholarship program.”
The Women’s Board of Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital dates back to 1942, when the hospital first opened in its current location. The mission of the Women’s Board is to support the hospital through fundraising, volunteerism, education, and advocacy. Their activities seek to enhance the facilities and services of the hospital, helping to ensure that the highest quality health care is available.
“Supporting the building of this hospital is the biggest philanthropic event in Lake Forest’s history,” adds Co-chair Christine Farrell. “It’s bringing 21st century cutting-edge health care to our community. This is a once-in-a-generation project that the Women’s Board is fully backing.”
The Women’s Board is excited about the new venue for their event. “We plan to capitalize on the views of Lake Michigan,” says Farrell. “We’ll have cocktails on the bluff, dinner in the garden, and dancing by the lake. We’ve planned a wonderful menu with fantastic entertainment.” The evening will also include a paddle raise and and an auction with some covetable items.
Additionally, in partnership with the hospital’s Office of Philanthropy, the Women’s Board has produced a video that showcases successful Northwestern health care patient stories that will be viewed at the soirée. “Our goal is to show our guests all that will be possible in the new hospital,” says Wells. “We’ll no longer be a triage center, but a comprehensive health care facility where some of the city’s greatest medical experts will be practicing in our own backyard.”
Farrell says that the Women’s Board hopes the video will highlight the medical talent and capabilities that will be available to patients when the new hospital opens in spring 2018. “We know that we’ll soon have patient success stories, where all of their care—from diagnosis to cure—takes place right here in Lake Forest.”
Seating for the Lakeside Soirée is limited. Tickets are $250 per adult. Benefactor tables with premier seating are $5,000 for a table of 10. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for prominent recognition at the event and through social media leading up to the evening.
