The Highland Park Strings Present the Emperor …

The season opens with the return of pianist Mikhail Yanovitsky, PhD, who is joined by lyric soprano Galina Sakhnovskaya. The married couple holds countless accolades for their individual work across the globe. Together, they direct the Elite Music Academy near Philadelphia. Currently, Sakhnovskaya is a voice teacher and Yanovitsky teaches piano at Temple University.

In Highland Park, Sakhnovskaya will sing the Aria from Bachianas Brasilieras No. 5, accompanied by 8 celli. Yanovitsky will play the Emperor Concerto by Beethoven. The Strings will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1.

The entire family is also welcome to attend a 2 p.m. preconcert conversation, “The Art of Listening to Today’s Concert,” presented by Stephanie Ettelson in the same location at no charge.

Maestro Robert Hasty, PhD, serves as principal conductor. Dr. Hasty also serves as conductor and associate director of orchestras at Northwestern University, and as the music director of the Kenosha Symphony Orchestra. In addition, Hasty has appeared as conductor with the All-American College Orchestra, Beijing Youth Orchestra; Elmhurst, Grant Park and Skokie Valley Symphonies among others.
