The Lake Forest Police Department and Lake Bluff Police Department sent an alert to local public school districts about a reported incident in Highwood in which students said a man approached them at Oak Terrace Elementary School and offered to give them a ride home. Separately, last week the Lake County Sheriff’s Office issued of a press release of an attempted child abduction in Beach Park that a sheriff’s spokesman said appears to be unrelated to the Highwood incident.

On Monday, April 1, 2013, the Lake Forest Police Department will join forces with Deerfield, Highland Park, Waukegan and Winnetka Police Departments to conduct on-going education and enforcement of local ordinances that restrict the use of a hand-held cell phone while driving a vehicle.
Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran is seeking citizens to join the Lake County Sheriff’s Office team of Reserve Deputies. The Lake County Sheriff’s Reserve Deputy Unit is a dedicated group of volunteers who assist the Sheriff’s Office sworn personnel on an emergency basis.
