Lake Forest Police Department officers responded to a house in the 1700 north block of Waukegan Road for a report of a residential burglary.

A home in the 1400 block of Kurtis Lane was burglarized on Friday, Sept. 13, between 9 a.m. and 5:50 p.m. while the home was unoccupied. The rear door of the locked home was pried open and several rooms ransacked. The owners reported more than $300,000 worth of jewelry missing from the residence.

During the day on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, Lake Forest experienced two residential burglaries and two attempted burglaries. The Lake Forest Police Department released descriptions of the two suspects and their vehicle and is asking residents to be on the lookout.

The Lake Forest Police Department and Lake Bluff Police Department sent an alert to local public school districts about a reported incident in Highwood in which students said a man approached them at Oak Terrace Elementary School and offered to give them a ride home. Separately, last week the Lake County Sheriff’s Office issued of a press release of an attempted child abduction in Beach Park that a sheriff’s spokesman said appears to be unrelated to the Highwood incident.
