GLENVIEW – From collecting seeds to sledding down hill, Glenview Park District has several events lined up for these cold winter months. Here is a primer for January:
January 11-January 17
Restoration Work Days
9 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 13 at The Grove’s Interpretive Center, 1421 Milwaukee Ave.
Make a difference in the environment! Collect seeds or remove non-native, invasive plants to make way for native wildflowers, grasses and trees. No advance registration necessary. Just bring your work gloves. Work parties may be cancelled in case of inclement weather.
Friday Night Meltdowns
8:15-10:15 p.m., Friday nights at Glenview Ice Center, 1851 Landwehr Rd.
Join us for an awesome skate and dance party! A DJ plays today’s hits and disco lighting shines on the ice throughout the night. Admission: $8 per person, or use your season skating pass! Outdoor Rinks and Sled Hills
Dates and times vary. Rinks and sled hills close at 10 p.m. Flick Park, 3600 Glenview Rd., and Johns Park, 2101 Central Rd.
Grab your skates and hop on your sleds for some outdoor winter fun! Signs will be posted at each park’s entrance when sledding and skating is permitted on any given day. Rinks and sled hills are lighted until closing. Adult supervision of children is encouraged.

Park Center Preschool Open House
6-7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 18 at Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Ave.
Stop by to meet the teachers and tour the classrooms. In addition, registration packets will be available. Resident and nonresident registration will also begin January 18. For more information, call 847-724-5670.
Free Intro to Square Dance Party
6-8 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 21 at Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Ave.
