LAKE BLUFF – It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas throughout Lake Bluff – and particularly in the homes and boutiques on this year’s Christmas Home Tour, thanks to the creativity and efforts of local residents and businesses who’ve transformed the tour homes into a holiday delight, provided a look inside one of the Village’s estate homes: Tangley Oaks, hosted a couple of spectacular boutiques and provided sponsorship support to make this year’s event a success.
This year’s tour includes a mix of homes that spans a century – from the early 1900s into the 21st Century, and covers a wider footprint in the Village than have past events. Each house is unique, reflecting the owner’s personal style and providing a look at how the Village has evolved over the years as it transitioned from a summer to a suburban community.
According to event Chairman Penny Marsh, “We’re exciting about this year’s tour: with Terlato’s headquarters – the Tangley Oaks mansion, six homes and two boutiques-both in historic Lake Bluff homes, there is lots to see. A couple of local design firms-Leggybird Designs and Whitehead Studios-assisted some homeowners, Twigs Florists created floral arrangements at Tangley Oaks, including those on the 17’ dining room table and Alison Buck Floral Designs provided other floral touches.”
Shoppers and browsers should plan a stop at the holiday boutiques, both of which are open from 10-5 on December 2.
The boutiques offer a wide selection of merchandise from a diverse, curated collection designed to appeal to a variety of tastes: one-of-a-kind jewelry, vintage creations, hats, cookies, florals, gourmet items and much, much more! For details on what you will see at each location visit the Lake Bluff History Museum’s Facebook page. Both boutiques are open from 10-5 on Saturday, allowing time to visit them before and after the Christmas Home Tour. And, be sure to head to the Village Green by 5 for the Village lighting ceremony!
Tickets to the Christmas Home Tour are $50 and can be purchased in advance at lakebluffhistory.org or in the museum on Saturday, before starting the tour. The tour starts at the museum, located at 127 E. Scranton Avenue in Lake Bluff, between 11 am and 3 pm. The houses on the tour close at 4 pm.
