LAKE FOREST – Lake Forest Police Department has taken into custody a 16-year-old Lake Forest boy identified as the offender in the November 17 attempted armed robbery in Lake Forest, according to a news release from LFPD Chief Karl Walldorf.
Lake Forest police originally identified the teenager as a person of interest through investigative leads uncovered late Friday night and Saturday, November 18. The juvenile offender was taken into custody early on Monday morning after police responded to a separate report of a stolen motor vehicle in which the juvenile was reported as the offender. Police located the juvenile and recovered the vehicle as well as unlawful prescription medication and cannabis in his possession.
The juvenile male was transported to the police station and was subsequently interviewed by detectives in the presence of a parent. Detectives obtained an admission of the juvenile’s participation in Friday’s attempted robbery. The victim also positively identified the offender through a photographic lineup.
The juvenile male was transported to the Lake County Juvenile Detention Center for holding pending a preliminary court hearing on charges of Aggravated Armed Robbery, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Cannabis.
