GLENCOE — Lakeshore Recycling Systems takes over the Village of Glencoe’s garbage collection program on Wednesday, November 1, 2017. As part of the transition, Glencoe residents must make service level selections and choose a standardized cart size before Monday, October 16.
To make service selections, residents can (1) complete and mail back the detachable postcard from the LRS bi-fold brochure that was mailed to each household in late September (2) call LRS directly at (773) 685-8811 or (3) use the online service selection online portal, a link to which can be found at www.villageofglencoe.org/garbage. If a resident would like an additional copy of the LRS brochure, they are available at Village Hall during regular business hours (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday).
Residents have the option of selecting between curbside collection (with collection either once or twice per week) or top-of-drive service (again, either once or twice per week). As a reminder, all recycling will continue to be collected curbside. Quarterly fees are as follows:
- Curbside, Once-Weekly: $68.80
- Curbside, Twice-Weekly: $113.47
- Top-of-drive, Once-Weekly: $98.97
- Top-of-drive, Twice-Weekly: $161.47
Residents may also choose to opt-in to the Annual Yard Waste Subscription Program for calendar year 2018 (which would begin April 1, 2018 – December 15, 2018) when making their service selection. Residents can now include food scrap composting along with yard waste. The annual subscription cost for this optional service is $125 or can be paid for through the use of yard waste stickers which will continue to be sold for $2.25 at Village Hall and the Grand Food Center.
At the onset of the program, LRS will deliver one standardized cart to each household for no additional fee. Curbside cart options are 65-gallon or 95-gallon and top-of-drive cart options are 65-gallon or residents can choose to use up to three of their own cans (under 44-gallons each). Sample carts are available in the Village Hall lobby to assist with understanding the size and capacity of each.
Residents are encouraged to learn more about the transition online at www.villageofglencoe.org/garbage. This page is regularly updated and has an extensive list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the transition and the new program. LRS customer service representatives are also available to help answer questions over the phone at (773) 685-8811 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Saturday.
