HIGHWOOD – The buzz is ablaze as Celebrate Highwood transforms its downtown into Nashwood and pays homage to Nashville’s Honkey Tonk Row the weekend of August 25-27. Attendees are encouraged to don their cowboy boots and hats as live country music, bluegrass and Southern rock sounds radiate from numerous bars and restaurant venues beginning Friday happy hour, running all day and into the late-night hours. Sunday features a number of jazz, gospel and blues brunch options.
A full line-up of live music will be showcased at various indoor and outdoor venues throughout the downtown, including outdoor stages at Highwood City Hall, 17 Highwood Avenue, and the parking lot across from Buffo’s at 431 Sheridan Road. Participating restaurants and bars will have drink specials and Southern-inspired food options, including Nashville hot chicken, chicken and waffles, fresh biscuits, shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes and more! Maps detailing the music schedule and food vendors will be available closer to the date.
To continue the Nashville flavor, JoyRide Pedal Tours is offering pedal pub crawl tours for individuals and groups departing from Kings & Convicts Brewing Company on Friday and Saturday. So grab your friends and email email@example.com or call 847-668-1213 to reserve a seat. Cost is $400 for groups of up to 15 people or $30 per person for 2 hours including beer.
“We’re thrilled to bring this exciting concept to Highwood,” says Celebrate Highwood President, Eric Falberg. “The close proximity of all the bars and restaurants, combined with the fact that most are owner-operated, allows us the unique ability to create a Nashville-like atmosphere in this community where the North Shore comes to party.”
Participating restaurants and bars include: 210 Restaurant, Art of Beer, Buffo’s, Ballaro, Cellar Gate, Humble Pub, Kings & Convicts, Nite ‘N Gale, Santi’s Garden, Teddy O’Brian, Toadstool Pub, and many more. There is much more fun in store for attendees, including Hauntingly Fun Entertainment’s zombie cowboy carnival game, as well as other favorite food vendors from the Highwood gourmet evening market including BBQ Baron, Popcorn Jester, Crazy Dogs, and more!
Hours: Friday, August 25 from 4 p.m. to bar close, Saturday, August 26 from 11 a.m. to bar close, and Sunday, August 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is no cover charge at any of the establishments but tips are encouraged to support the bands throughout the weekend.
