HIGHLAND PARK – ORT America Metropolitan Chicago Region is moving its downtown Highland Park Resale Shop to a larger, more convenient location at 1710 First Street. In preparation for the move, the shop is having a $1 sale on Saturday, August 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its current location, 800 Central Street.
“The more stock that is sold, the less that has to be moved,” said Roberto Martinez, one of the store’s managers.
“We are thrilled about this move, as we embark upon the next stage of our resale store and want to thank the public for supporting us,” said Barbara Statland, director-Metropolitan Chicago Region of ORT America. “Downtown Highland Park has been our home for two decades, and now being located across from the Metra train station will allow for accessibility to more people from the city and suburbs who do not have access to cars.”
The Highland Park ORT Resale Shop has been an active business in Highland Park for more than 20 years, and accounts for more than $100,000 raised annually.
“You are not just supporting a store, but a mission driven organization who gives back education to thousands of students throughout the world. Students who may be disadvantaged receive critical skills, including STEM education, knowledge and opportunities to be successful in the future,” said Statland. “We are proud of our reputation and grateful for the many donations and customers who help us support ORT’s mission and fundraising goals.”
The current location will close on August 20. The public is asked to save the date for the Grand Opening of the new facility on Monday, October 2 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Donations will then be accepted beginning Tuesday, October 3 at the new store. For more information on the Grand Opening of the new shop, please call the ORT office at 847.291.0475.
