Catcher Dylan Horvitz, who helped the New Trier High School baseball team win 30 games and place fourth in the Class 4A state tournament on June 9-10 in Joliet, was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 38th round of the MLB Draft on June 14.
Horvitz, who has been accepted into the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, was a standout catcher for the past two seasons for the Trevians.
This spring, the 6-foot-2, 195-pound receiver batted .323 with eight doubles and two home runs. The all-CSL South selection had a team-best 31 RBIs.
Horvitz hit cleanup and finished the 2016 season with a .291 batting average, four home runs, eight doubles and 34 runs batted in. His OPS was 1.028.
