The Lake Forest Fire Department on June 6 extinguished a residential fire in the central part of the city. No one was injured.
The LFFD received a 911 call on Tuesday at 9:43 p.m. for a basement fire. En route, crews were advised a contractor on site was working on the water heater. Upon arrival, the fire department found moderate smoke conditions in the basement and a small fire near the water heater.
The contractor shut off the gas to the home prior to the arrival of the fire department. The fire was extinguished with a pump can. The smoke was removed using fans. The fire was contained to the two water heaters, no extension into any structural members was noted. The contractor was treated on scene and released by paramedics. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Preliminary estimates put the damage at $1,200.
