A Lake Bluff resident was found deceased near Route 41 and Hanssen Road in Wadsworth in what authorities consider to be a hit-and-run collision on May 9. Lake County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Igor Avilov, age 54, from Lake Bluff, according to a news release. Next kin has been notified.
On May 9 at about 8:45 p.m., the Lake County Sheriif’s Office responded to a report of a body on the side of the road near Route 41 and Hanssen Road in Wadsworth. They found an adult male on the southbound shoulder who sustained fatal injuries, according to the release.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office was contacted and responded to the scene. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
An autopsy has been performed and the preliminary findings indicate his death is attributed to multiple traumatic injuries. Toxicology results are pending.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office stated that the preliminary investigation indicates the man was likely walking on the shoulder of southbound Route 41 when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. Based on evidence recovered at the scene, traffic crash investigators believe he was struck by a 2004-2008 silver Ford F-150 Pickup. The F-150 likely has damage to the front bumper and front passenger-side headlight assembly.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
“Our condolences go out to the family of Mr. Avilov and we hope someone comes forward with information regarding the incident,” said Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper.
