LAKE BLUFF – Lake Bluff Middle School 8th grade student Aidan Cran has qualified for the Illinois state level of the national Geography Bee, one of only 100 students in Illinois to qualify. Aiden was selected after he won won the LBMS GeoBee in January.
“To my knowledge, this is the first time that a Lake Bluff student has qualified to go on to the state competition,” said LBMS Principal Nathan Blackmer. “We are extremely proud and impressed by Aidan’s geography knowledge, and he is an outstanding representative of our school.”
Each year thousands of schools in the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee using materials prepared by the National Geographic Society. This entertaining and challenging contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography. Schools with students in grades four through eight are eligible for this entertaining and challenging test of geographic knowledge.
