While Moraine Township is more often linked with addressing human needs than environmental issues, it has played a part in adding to the community’s sustainability in its cemetery maintenance. For example, the Township initiated and implemented a plan to address flooding issues at Mooney Cemetery with permeable pavers and rain gardens. Graves can now be dug even during the wettest periods: and residents can visit the cemetery in any weather. Further, the Township cemeteries are visually appealing with natural landscaping and native plantings.
It is important to me to have Moraine Township looking at the bigger picture of sustainability, while also helping our neighbors in need. The Township plays a vital role in addressing a variety of issues to maintain and support our community. That’s why I’m voting for Bassi, Brown, Plouche, Alvarez, Douglas, Wolfson and Zisook, and hope you will too!
