Casting a vote for Dan Jenks as a school board member in April will help move us forward toward a workable, equitable and fiscally responsible reconfiguration of District 112. Despite no longer having kids in D112, Dan has been extremely involved in learning about the issues of the District because they affect our whole community and North Shore suburbs are defined by their schools.
I worked with Dan on the Lincoln School PTA and as part of the CLEAR 113 leadership which suppported the District 113 referendum in 2013. As a leader in those organizations, he was smart, analytical, open-minded and thoughtful. Dan was effective as treasurer at Lincoln and instituted best practices which made the whole organization run better. As a co-chair or CLEAR 113, Dan was tireless and did a wonderful job of articulating the big issues and his vision for the best solutions. Always strategic and measured, Dan also used his sense of humor to keep folks on both sides from making the campaign personal. His respectfulness, balance and his ability to carefully consider multiple viewpoints would make Dan a valuable addition to the D112 School Board as it navigates a path of compromise that meets the needs of our schools and citizens.
I don’t know what the picture will look like as we reshape our schools and thus, our community. But I do know that the District 112 School Board will benefit greatly by Dan’s intellect, leadership and sincerity. Dan Jenks has my vote. Please give him yours.
