WINNETKA – The Winnetka Park District Executive Director Robert Smith announced his retirement at the February 23 Board Meeting. Although the date is fluid, it is anticipated that his last day will be at the end of April. Robert has been with the District since 2003 as Superintendent of Park and rose to the Executive Director position in January 2014.
During his tenure with the District, Robert has overseen a multitude of park projects including the Crow Island Woods renovation, new Parks Service Center construction, Skokie Playfield Master Plan and Phase I & II projects, Village Green playground renovations, Northfield Park redevelopment, and Hubbard Woods Master Plan and execution.
Under his leadership as Executive Director the District completed the Winnetka Water front 2030 Plan, updated the District’s policy manual, 2016 Community Needs Assessment survey and is currently closing in on finalizing the 2017-22 Strategic Plan.
