I am so pleased to see that the current Moraine Township team is running for a second term in the April 4, 2017 election
This group has been particularly notable for identifying unmet needs as well as finding new ways to meet those needs. When they learned that low income school children face hunger on weekends, during school breaks and holidays and summer vacation because they lose access to free school meals, they set up programs to fill those gaps. When health insurance became available under the Affordable Care Act the Township set up a program to train and certify volunteers to help residents enroll in the program. Currently the Township is providing free tax assistance under the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. And they launched all these new programs while maintaining the standard Township programs such as General Assistance, a food pantry and the Holiday Gift Drive.
It should be noted that while the Township has constantly increased its services they have voted to decrease salaries for Township officials in the coming four year term. This saving is one way they have been able to decrease the property tax levy by 9%.
I hope everyone will help elect Team Moraine on April 4. Our Township needs the leadership they have provided over the last four years.
Look for these names on the Moraine Township ballot:
- Anne Flanigan Bassi, Supervisor
- Cynthia R. Plouche, Assessor
- Gail Feiger Brown, Clerk
- Pablo Alvarez, Trustee
- Dwayne Douglas, Trustee
- Cindy Wolfson, Trustee
