LAKE FOREST – The driver of a semi-truck lost control in the eastbound lane I-94 just north of Everett Road early on December 23, striking the median and crossing the barrier into the west-bound lanes. The vehicle then struck at least two others. The semi driver was ejected from the truck, and was deceased upon arrival of Lake Forest Fire Department.
Of the other two vehicles, one person was transported to the hospital and another was released.
According to a press release from the LFPD, a call was placed to emergency dispatch at 5:49 a.m., and emergency personnel arrived at 6:06 a.m. The situation was under control by 7:15 a.m. Two engines, two ambulances and another emergency service vehicle were on the scene, with assistance from other agencies.
Fire crews cleared the scene after the fatality was transferred to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, and the scene was turned over to State Police.
