LAKE FOREST — Lake Forest Book Store is moving four doors south.
The book store will move from its current location at 680 North Western Avenue in Lake Forest at the entrance to Market Square to 662 North Western, according to signs in the windows of both locations.
The move is planned for the end of February, according to store manager Max Gregory.
“They’re doing a little build out for us,” Gregory said of the landlord at the new location. “If everything goes according to plan, we’ll move at the end of February.”
Michael Astorino of Lake Forest, who was shopping at the store Jan. 9 with his daughter, Isabella Astorino, said they are frequent customers and unconcerned about the move.
“None whatsoever,” Michael Astorino said when asked if the new store would make a difference in his family’s shopping habits. “They have a real good display of books, especially children’s books.”
“They have lots of books to choose from,” Isabella Astorino added. Michel Astorino said Saturday’s wet snowfall did not deter his daughter from wanting to make a trip to the store.
The display of children’s and adult books is one of the key reasons for the move, according to Eleanor Thorn, the owner of the shop. She said it will be easier to differentiate the two sections in the new place.
“The space is a little bigger and it lays out really well for us,” Thorn said. “It is on Western Avenue, which I wanted. I saw it was available and I went for it. Both landlords are being wonderful.”
The store originally opened in 1949 at 626 North Western, currently the location of Dunkin Donuts, according to Gregory. She said it moved into its current spot 13 years ago.
“We’re right in between the original store and this one,” Gregory said.
The sign in the window of the current store indicated there will be a moving sale.
