LAKE FOREST – Starbucks is considering moving its downtown Lake Forest location to 672 North Western Avenue south of the Lake Forest Book Store from its present coffee shop at 722 Bank Lane, according to the city’s Director of Community Development Catherine Czerniak.
“I’ve heard they’re going into the former Lake Forest Food & Wine location,” Czerniak said. “I don’t know an opening date.”
While a spokesperson for Starbucks said in an email the company was “in the early stages of considering relocating our store in Lake Forest,” Michael Schreiber, a principal of L3 Capital, which owns Market Square, 672 North Western and 722 Bank Lane, was a little more definitive.
“I can’t confirm it but I certainly won’t deny it,” Schreiber said.
Construction activity at 672 North Western Avenue indicates something is going on at the location. Czerniak said L3 took out a permit to do both the interior and exterior work but Starbucks has not yet applied for a permit to do improvements.
“I’ve heard on the street Starbucks is moving into that location,” Czerniak said.
