Cacao Sweets & Treats, a natural and organic bakery, will open up shop at the Lake Bluff Train Station on July 24. The station’s retail space was recently vacated by Lulu’s Frozen Delights, which had been operating a coffee/snack shop there since February of this year.
According to Cacao Sweets & Treats owner Candice Hunsinger, the bakery’s train station location will sell sweet treats, such as cinnamon rolls, muffins, and cupcakes, along with fresh-baked bread, coffee, and tea. Everything will be baked fresh daily at Cacao’s Grayslake shop, which opened in May, and brought over to the train station.
“Everything is all-natural, organic, and made from scratch,” said Hunsinger. “We use all-natural ingredients, organic eggs and dairy, and we try to use local ingredients whenever possible.”
Cacao Sweets & Treats has been a popular vendor at the Lake Bluff Farmer’s Market for the past few years, so opening a location here seemed like a natural step, said Hunsinger.
“People have always encouraged us to open a shop there in town,” said Hunsinger, “but there aren’t often a lot of spaces available.Sso when this became available, it just made sense.”
While hours of operation have not yet been finalized, Hunsinger expects that they’ll be open at 6 a.m. Monday through Friday to accommodate commuters, will likely close around 2 p.m. unless there’s demand for extended hours, and will be open on Saturdays as well.
In the meantime, you can visit Cacao Sweets & Treats at the Lake Bluff Farmer’s Market on Fridays from 7 a.m. to noon.
