Third graders at Everett enjoyed an educational session via Skype with the son of one of their school’s staff members – Erik Winkler – a LFHS graduate and a Program and Training Specialist with the Peace Corp. After having volunteered in the Peace Corp, he decided to work for the organization training incoming volunteers. He lives in Barranquilla, in northern Columbia. Everett students sent Mr. Winkler questions in advance and he developed a PowerPoint presentation to guide the discussion. He taught students about life in Columbia. They learned about the tropical climate, wild life, schools, and much more. Ms. Susie Oh, Everett Information Literacy Instructor, arranged this opportunity.
