On the sunny autumn afternoon of Sunday, September 30th, 160 members and friends of the Lake Forest Preservation Foundation enjoyed the annual fundraiser Classic Estates and Gardens of Lake Forest Home and Garden Tour. The Tour highlighted the historic architectural and landscape design at the north end of Lake Road.
Guests enjoyed the beautiful fall afternoon as they walked along Lake Road to visit the historic homes designed by noted architects David Adler, Anderson & Ticknor, Frederick Wainwright Perkins and Howard Van Doren Shaw. The gardens were glorious in their fall colors and guests lingered in the historic Mrs. Kersey Coates Reed garden recently renovated by Craig Bergmann to listen to garden expert Andrea Powell. At each of the other venues guests were treated to short talks by historian Art Miller, architect Diana Melichar and Anderson historian Paul Bergman. A wonderful afternoon was had by all.
The funds raised will strengthen the mission of education, advocacy and provide needed resources to preserve local landmarks.
